Dog owner Shares  warning about online pet care service

It started when booking a pet sitter from rover.com became a nightmare for a Massachusetts man named Travis Anthony.

Anthony booked the dog sitter from the website rover.com. A website known for background checks and vetting by specialists.

When Anthony reached back home from his vacation he found damaged cabinets from a kitchen fire, stollen debit cards, and his car keys were also missing.

Upon a simple google search with the dog sitters name showed multiple arrests including one just this past May.

Anthony said "If I can find information about her that easily on Google, then Rover should have been able to too,"

Rover.com refunded the payment made to the dog sitter but refused to cover the costs of cleaning, repairs, and lost key fob.

The man insists that Rover.com should cover the additional expenses resulting from the incident.

In response, Rover.com has removed the sitter, is reviewing her background check, and will reimburse the man for costs not covered by his insurance.

Rover.com claims that such incidents are rare, with over half a million services booked in the Boston area and over 98% of them receiving five-star reviews.
